Visual Management (5S)

The goal of visual management is to improve performance through the use of powerful, eye-catching visual tools. Employees are stimulated and encouraged by these simple visual progress indicators or catch signals or guidelines related to the production process.

Visual management ensures rapid growth, helps streamline processes, and especially helps maintain high-quality standards.

5S Workplace Organization Tools

A fundamental building block in Lean implementation is 5S workplace organization.

This 5S workplace organization system consists of the following 5 steps:

1st S Sort
2nd S Set in Order
3rd S Shine and maintain
4th S Standardize
5th S Sustain

For each step of the 5S workplace organization system, tools are needed. VSI provides many tools for the various steps in the 5S workplace organization system. These range from literature to complete team corners.

Communication is very important in Lean improvement projects. Often, people focus only on the tools required, the so-called "tools." However, using these Lean tools alone does not usually make the improvement projects successful. Support and clear information are necessary to drive change within an organization.
